Minor Programs

The requirements for minors in philosophy and religious studies are as follows:

  1. Philosophy (General). Twelve hours in philosophy courses at the 300 and 400 level.
  2. Applied Ethics. Twelve hours in philosophy courses as follows: PHIL 441U and nine hours from PHIL 301U, 302U, 303U, 344T, 345U, 355T, 410U, 442U.
  3. Religious Studies. Twelve hours chosen from the following courses: REL 311U, 312U, 350, 351 and 352 PHIL 313U, 353U, 427U, 430U, 480U, 481U, 482U, and 485.
  4. Political and Legal Studies. Twelve hours in philosophy courses as follows: At least six hours from PHIL 301U, 304U, 340U, 410U, 411U, 412U, 418U, or 441U.
    Other course options: PHIL 302U, 303U, 344T, 345U, 355T, 442U.

For completion of a minor, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.00 in all courses taken toward the minor and complete a minimum of six hours in upper-level courses in the minor requirement at Old Dominion University.
